Award-winning Healthcare at St. Charles Bend

Bend's heart care program has repeatedly been ranked "among the best in the nation" by a major health care report card organization. The Heart Center, the region's first comprehensive cardiac care facility, recently opened on the St. Charles Bend campus.

Our orthopedics and neurosurgery program offers cutting-edge treatments, ranging from total joint replacements to back and neck surgeries. St. Charles recently partnered with some of its physicians to open The Center: Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Care and Research to expand on our award-winning care.

Only one in four hospitals that treats cancer patients receives accreditation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and the St. Charles Cancer Treatment Center is one of them. In 2004, before national standards were in place, the St. Charles Cancer Committee established our Quality Program using National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines to assure the highest standard of care for our patients. Our Cancer Treatment Center is taking the lead in developing cancer survivorship programs.

HealthyStart Prenatal Service, a cooperative effort between St. Charles, the Deschutes County Health Department and the St. Charles Foundation, has received national acclaim for helping women who could not otherwise afford prenatal care.

Our newly-expanded Family Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides the latest in technology in a private and comfortable environment.

The Endometriosis Treatment Program has been featured in numerous national and international publications and has attracted women from as far away as Canada and Europe.

Cascade Healthcare Community, the parent company of St. Charles Bend and St. Charles Redmond has coined the phrase "Be the Benchmark." As part of its commitment to quality of care, the company recently made available its CHC Quality Reports to the public to show how well the company is taking care of its patients and to see what areas need improvement. Patients can look to these reports to find out about CHC's quality, customer service and charges as compared to other hospitals in Oregon and across the nation. Key findings from this data show:

• CHC ranks above the national average on 71 percent of quality measures.
• CHC is among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the United States on 14 percent of quality measures.
• St. Charles Bend exceeds the national average for patient satisfaction for inpatient hospital care.
