Cascade Healthcare Community (CHC) is the parent company of St. Charles Bend, St. Charles Redmond, Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville, and affiliated clinics. CHC is a private, not-for-profit Oregon corporation with a locally selected board of directors. CHC employs about 2,900 people in Bend, Redmond, and Prineville.

St. Charles Bend is a national leader in heart, cancer, and orthopedic care and has gained recognition for its healing health care philosophy, which includes the body, mind, and spirit.
As a regional referral center, St. Charles Bend provides medical care to a population of more than 240,000 people in a 32,000 square mile area of Central and Eastern Oregon. St. Charles Bend has 231 licensed beds including a 12-bed rehabilitation center. The hospital is Oregon’s only Level II Trauma Center east of the Cascades.
What specialty services does St. Charles Bend provide?
With 250 physicians on the active medical staff, St. Charles Bend offers 40 specialties and subspecialties including: comprehensive cancer care, open-heart surgery and interventional cardiology, total joint replacements, complex eye surgery, and pediatric care. St. Charles Bend offers virtually all of the services of a large metropolitan medical center while offering the more personalized care of a smaller, community hospital. AirLink, the region’s primary medical ambulance service, is based at St. Charles Bend and transports patients throughout Central and Eastern Oregon.

Does CHC offer internships?
The Clinical Internship Program is designed for graduate Registered Nurses with less than six months of acute care experience. The internship helps participants gain clinical competence in basic nursing skills. Upon successful completion of the eight to 12-week program, all interns are offered a position.

We select a Caregiver of the Month and a Caregiver of the Year for each hospital campus. Employees are thanked for their service at the 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 Year Annual Recognition Dinner.
