Your Safety is Important to Us

You entrust your health and care to us. In return, you can be sure that wherever you are in our hospital – in every department and at every level of service – your caregivers regard your safety as their highest priority.

At St. Charles, we are proud of our long-standing success meeting and exceeding National Patient Safety Goals of the Joint Commission. In the area of safety, we strive for more than compliance – more even than excellence. Our goal is to settle for nothing less than maintaining an environment of care that is free of error.

Safety – At St. Charles, It’s Everybody’s Department

It takes professionals with real experience to provide real solutions. That’s why each department at St. Charles has its own safety committee, comprised of frontline workers who have direct oversight of the implementation of safety standards that are specific to their areas of care.

Safety – It’s Our Commitment to You

St. Charles has also made an institution-wide commitment to the culture of transparency envisioned by CHC President/CEO James A. Diegel. This means candor, communication and accountability.

  • We invite the public to become informed about what we do well and also where we need to improve
  • We maintain quarterly reports about quality, and we welcome patients to review these reports online
  • We encourage patients and families to see themselves as partners in the effort to provide a safe environment
  • We proudly participate in the 5 Million Lives Campaign, a voluntary program that aims to improve hospital care by protecting patients from medical harm. Our participation in the 5 Million Lives Campaign represents leadership in a cutting edge movement that will not only improve patient care at St. Charles, but nationally as well.
