Preparing for Your Surgery
The St. Charles Pre-surgery team consists of appointment schedulers and registered nurses who care passionately about helping you get prepared - and feel prepared - for your hospital experience. Your pre-surgery visit is our opportunity to address your concerns, gather information, and facilitate communication among your caregivers so that your surgical experience runs smoothly.
How to Schedule Your Pre-Surgery Visit
After your surgeon contacts us to schedule your surgery, we will then contact you to arrange your pre-surgery visit. Typically, this visit occurs in the week prior to your scheduled surgery.
Alternatively, you can call the department directly at (541) 388-7728.
What to Expect from Your Pre-Surgery Visit
During your pre-surgery visit, the team will work with you to:
- Review diagnostics you have already completed and medical history.
- Obtain additional required diagnostic tests.
- Complete a risk assessment for sleep apnea.
- Explain your day of surgery eating, drinking and medication instructions. If you have a specific question such as when to stop certain medication, please contact your surgeon as soon as possible.
- Address general concerns regarding your hospitalization and discharge planning.
