Cancer Treatments

Radiation Therapy

St. Charles serves as the regional center for radiation therapy. We are the only hospital in Oregon outside of Portland to offer Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery for brain tumors. St. Charles is one of only a few hospitals in the state to provide Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), one of the most advanced cancer therapies available.  Our board certified radiation oncologists include Dr. Linyee Chang, Dr. Thomas Comerford and Dr. Russ Omizo .

Chemotherapy

Many cancer patients will undergo chemotherapy as part of their treatment plan. St. Charles Cancer Care is proud to announce our new medical oncology (chemotherapy) clinic, Cancer Care of the Cascades, with locations in Bend and Redmond.  Chemotherapy and hematology services are provided by board certified physicians Dr. Bill Martin, Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, Dr. Robert Boone and Dr. Cora Calomeni.  For information and appointments, call (541) 706-4701.

Surgery

Surgery is commonly used in the treatment of cancer to help physicians diagnose cancer and for the removal of cancerous tissue. St. Charles-Bend and St. Charles-Redmond provide inpatient cancer surgeries, offering top surgical care in state-of-the art operating rooms. Biopsies that do not require a hospital stay can be done conveniently at the St. Charles SurgiCenter, adjacent to the main hospital.
