The Pulmonary Function Testing Lab (PFT) at St. Charles Bend is a full-service, specialized lab that tests every major function of the lungs.
We’re proud to be one of the few certified Pulmonary Function Testing Labs in the country that meets the American Thoracic Society’s high standards for consistently achieving the most comprehensive, highest quality lab testing. This certification is not easy, and most other labs across the country are not certified. We gladly put in the extra time and effort required to achieve this prestigious certification because we want to provide you with the very best, most complete care.
Every year, we earn the highest level of standards in noninvasive pulmonary testing of:
- Spirometry: measurements of air flow and volume which are indicators of lung health
- Lung volume: measurements that help determine if a lung disease is present
- Diffusion: determines how well oxygen passes from the air sacs of the lungs into the blood
- Methacholine Challenge: the gold standard for diagnosing asthma
- 6-minute walk for endurance: measures how much exercise or functional physical exertion the lungs can handle
