St. Charles Laboratory Services

St. Charles Bend and St. Charles Redmond laboratories provide 24-hour service, 7-days-a-week, including on-demand physician consultation. Our laboratories meet the highest quality standards established by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and the JCAHO (Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals). St. Charles provides the only Blood Bank in Central Oregon certified by the AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) and registered with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Providing local lab testing of the highest quality with availability for Stat or emergency situations, our services also include:

  • Hematology
  • Chemistry
  • Coagulation
  • Serology
  • Microbiology
  • Convenient outpatient facilities for blood draws
  • Referral of samples to reference labs

Each year, St. Charles Bend and St. Charles Redmond laboratories perform more than 2.7 million tests. Approximately 170 professionals in both laboratories include licensed Medical Technologists with Bachelor of Science degrees performing the majority of the testing. This provides assurance for accurately analyzed tests for any type of patient sample (examples: blood, urine and cultures).

Lab assistants interact directly with patients to provide professional face-to-face services to obtain blood samples (phlebotomy) or indirectly to provide test ordering, processing, billing or communication support. Clients and patients reach a live person rather than a "phone tree" when calling the laboratory at (541) 388-7717.
