Mountain View Hospital Caregiver Awarded as Hospice Social Worker of the Year

The Oregon Hospice Association announced and celebrated the recipients of the Annual Hospice Dream Team   during the annual Awards dinner held at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland .   Hospice providers from around the state submitted their nominations in several categories and Deb Thinnes, MSW, from Mountain View Hospital was presented the award as Hospice Social Worker of the year.

“Deb is a valuable asset and integral part of the Mountain View Hospice team.  She has excellent medical social worker skills, knowledge and intuitiveness.  Deb is respected by the hospice team, hospital caregivers, and health care providers within the local community and regionally,” said Debbie Snell, Mountain View Home Health and Hospice director.

The dinner event was well attended, with representation from 25 member hospices across the state. This prestigious award was first presented in January 2004 and has become a tradition Oregon ’s hospice providers look forward to every year. Oregon is among the nation’s leaders for hospice care; Oregon families have come to depend on the commitment and compassion of the professionals on Oregon ’s hospice care teams.

“Deb’s goals include expanding the bereavement and volunteer programs and increasing community awareness of the services available through Mountain View Hospice.  Deb makes a difference for patients and families in this work of a lifetime.  I appreciate how hard she works to create a cohesive team, her passion for excellence, and her core values of compassion, ethics, honesty, trust, and integrity,” noted Snell. 

The Oregon Hospice Association is a statewide, not-for-profit public benefit membership organization whose goal is to make sure that all Oregonians can have excellent care as they or their loved ones approach the end of life.
