Other family medicine specialty interests include complete maternity care including C-sections, preventative health for adults and children, care for chronic conditions and diseases, and end of life care. The physicians and physician assistant are diplomats of the American Board of Family Medicine.
The Department of Family Medicine at OHSU was established in 1971 shortly after the specialty of family medicine was created in 1969. Today’s family physicians are medical specialists trained to care for patients of all ages, both sexes, each organ system and every disease entity. The American Board of Family Medicine represents more than 74,000 family physicians nationwide.
