Mountain ViewHospital Adds Expanded Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Services

Mountain View Hospital and Alliance Imaging, Inc. announce the addition of a state-of-the-art 1.5T MRI scanner, which provides greater patient comfort, faster imaging times, and is capable of performing specialized applications. This new service is now available on Tuesdays and Fridays at Mountain View Hospital .

The new system, a General Electric Medical Systems 1.5T, 8 channel magnet is a high performance, short bore whole body imaging system. The new MRI magnet accommodates patients up to 350 pounds, and is capable of performing routine to high-performance applications including the central nervous system, body, joints, and vascular anatomy, as well as gastrointestinal, gynecologic and urologic exams. In addition to performing complex applications, another advantage of this system is the superior image quality.

The addition of this new MRI magnet compliments and will greatly extend the range of high quality diagnostic services already available to the community’s residents; patients can now stay at Mountain View Hospital for their MRI needs, and no longer have to travel to Redmond or Bend. The MRI images at Mountain View Hospital are read and interpreted by Central Oregon Radiology Associates, which are the same group of Radiologists that provide services to Redmond , Bend and Prineville.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses a strong magnet and radiofrequency waves to produce detailed pictures of the body’s internal organs and structures without ionizing radiation. Since MRI allows doctors to see inside the body from any angle with great clarity, it provides doctors a wealth of information more quickly and in many cases, more economically than other tests and exploratory surgeries.
