Mountain View Medical and Surgical Associates Announces the Retirement of Dr. Edward Shapiro

Madras , OR (July 3, 2008) - Mountain View Medical and Surgical Associates (MSA) announced that Dr. Edward Shapiro, OB/GYN, will be retiring from his clinical practice at the end of July. Dr. Shapiro has been providing obstetrical and gynecological services in the community for the last two years and worked very closely with other family practice physicians at Madras Medical Group (MMG) and Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center .  The staff at Mountain View Medical and Surgical Associates will facilitate a smooth and welcoming transition to another local physician for Dr. Shapiro’s patients.

"I will miss my patients and this community a great deal, but its time for me to move on to a new chapter in my life," Dr. Shapiro said.  “I am impressed both with the medical staff and the quality of care patients receive at the hospital.”

Dr. Thomas Scherer, General Surgeon, at Mountain View Medical and Surgical Associates, is available to provide common gynecological surgical services for women of all ages.  Dr. Scherer takes advantage of the most innovative technology to allow shorter hospitalization and recovery time. 

The family practice physicians at MMG will continue to provide obstetrical services and have had additional training in obstetrics to provide patients with comprehensive, quality care.  Whether a pregnancy is proceeding normally or considered “high risk,” they will be able to provide the needed services.

In addition, laboratory testing, routine ultrasound and comfortable Family Birthing Suites are available nearby at Mountain View Hospital .  Patients and families spend less time traveling and are able to get all of the necessary care on one campus, making appointments, deliveries, and surgeries more convenient.
