Diabetes Self-Management Programs
The Diabetes Self-Management Education Program at Mountain View Hospital is focused on the participant’s ability to make informed decisions about their diabetes. Our instruction provides a caring and professional environment to enhance and influence learning. In addition, the program offers expert recommendations for diabetes management, confidentiality and support.
Blood Sugar Screening Clinics
Our Community Education Department offers free Blood Sugar Screening Clinics on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Culver City Hall. These free screenings are part of Mountain View Hospital’s overall effort to improve community health through early detection and prevention education services.
Individual Self-Management Counseling
Our Registered and Licensed Dietician provides individual counseling related to diabetes for those who:
- Prefer one-on-one counseling
- Have visual or hearing impairments
- Are pregnant with gestational diabetes
Nutrition Counseling
Our Diabetes Educator provides nutritional counseling and offers food choices to meet the special needs of individuals with diabetes. Blood sugar monitoring and exercise are important components of the nutrition program and are addressed with great emphasis.
Referrals and Assistance
Our program is covered by Medicare and most health insurance plans. Your insurance provider will be contacted regarding your coverage. A physician’s referral or prescription may be required for your insurance provider. Services will not be denied due to financial concerns.
