Prineville Hospital Foundation funds new patient care beds
Caregivers in the Medical-Surgical Care Unit at Pioneer Memorial Hospital (PMH) now have three new patient care beds which make caring for patients a little easier. The additional beds were purchased with funds from the Prineville Hospital Foundation (PHF).
The new beds are by Stryker, a leading manufacturer of hospital equipment. Their innovative features include: a built-in capability to weigh the patient while they are in bed without having to move them; memory foam type mattresses for increased patient comfort; and an alarm system to alert caregivers if a patient leaves the bed without assistance. In addition, the new beds are equipped with a zoom drive, which makes it relatively easy for one person to move the bed, as well as easy-to-operate controls for raising, lowering and configurin
g the bed. Each bed can hold patients weighing up to 500 pounds.
PMH executive director Don Wee accepted the check totaling $30,433 from PHF Board of Directors’ Chair John Boylen (at right in the photo). “We want people to know that the money the Foundation raises stays in Prineville,” Boylen said. “This is one example of what the Foundation is continuing to do to support our local hospital and health care in Crook County . We are still doing important work with the hospital; we are still helping to fund equipment and capital needs at the hospital.”
