March 6—Living Well with Diabetes, the five-session series, begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Ochoco Conference Room.  Series begins with an overview presented by Shelly Schwartz, RD, LD, and includes information on diabetic foot care presented by Laura Schweger, DPM, diabetic medications presented by Frank Duhn, RPh, and glucose monitoring presented by Anita McGrew, RN.  Register by calling 447-6254, ext. 352.

March 6—Prepared Childbirth classes begin at 6 p.m. in the Cascade Room, Home Health wing of Pioneer Memorial Hospital .  This seven-session series for parents-to-be includes information on the stages of labor, delivery, medications, nutrition, child development, breast feeding and lots more.  Presented by Penny Winterburn , RN, IBCLC.  The classes are free if you plan to deliver your baby at PMH; otherwise, cost is $40.  Call 447-6254 to register, and for more information.

March 10—Alcoholics Anonymous— meets every Monday. Call 416-2017 for directions and information.

March 14—16:  Benefit for Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project.  Cowboy Creations will donate a portion of sales during these three days to this non-profit organization. Event will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Prineville Ray’s Food Place .  Information about the Oregon Breast and Cervical Cancer Project will be available.

March 20 – Inhalants, a one-night workshop for parents, caregivers, interested community members, presented from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crook County Middle School .  The class is free and child care will be provided.  Call 416-8392 to register and for more information.

March 24—Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a workshop developed by Legacy Health Services in Portland , designed to provide education and support for family caregivers.  Held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room near Clinic Pharmacy, there is no charge for the class.  Attendees will receive a book and the tools that will help them take care of themselves while caring for an adult relative or friend.  Call 447-6254, ext. 352 to register and for more information.

March 28 – Circles of Care, a luncheon open to anyone who has lost a loved one.  12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Cascade Room, Home Health wing at Pioneer Memorial Hospital .  A light lunch of soup and rolls will be served.  Call 447-2510 for information.

March 30 – National Doctors’ Day.  Be sure you thank our tireless medical staff for their energy, expertise and caring for all of us each day of the year.

April 6 through 12 – Public Health Week.  Each year, we recognize the important contributions our Health Department makes to our community.  Watch for more detailed information.
