Pioneer Memorial Hospital Hospice Bereavement Recovery Program

The Pioneer Memorial Hospital Hospice Bereavement Recovery Program is an extension of our Hospice Services that offers individual and group support to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

What is Grief?

The grieving process is a normal reaction to loss. Reactions stemming from the loss of a loved one can impact all areas of a person’s life for a very long time. Our Hospice Bereavement Program offers surviving family members and friends a chance to develop a better understanding of the grief process, a place to share feelings with others who are also experiencing loss, and opportunities to learn healthy coping skills.

How We Can Help

The Pioneer Memorial Hospital Hospice staff is available throughout the course of a patient’s care to provide assistance with issues of grief and loss to both the patient and the family. Bereavement services are offered to the family following the patient's death and include:

  • Bereavement support groups
  • Grief counseling
  • Telephone support
  • Personal mailings

Pioneer Memorial Hospital Hospice Grief Support Groups

You don’t have to struggle with grief alone. Join a regularly scheduled grief support group to learn about the grieving process. Facilitators for the bereavement groups are members of our Hospice staff and Hospice Volunteers trained in the grieving process. There is no charge to participate. To find out how you can register for the next class, call the Hospice Department at 541-447-2510 or e-mail Home Care.
