What is the Swing Bed Program?

The Swing Bed Program is a federally approved program for small rural hospitals. "Swing Bed" refers to the use of hospital beds for either acute or skilled nursing care. Pioneer Memorial Hospital Swing Bed Programs offer a much needed service for patients who no longer need acute hospital care but need skilled nursing or therapy care to complete their recoveries and return home.

Inpatient Skilled Nursing Care Services

The Swing Bed Program provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, such as physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy. The program is federally funded for Medicare recipients and services are covered by most insurers.
