Delivering Life
New OB/GYN helps to expand service in Redmond
As Meredith Browning sat in a hospital bed recently, her unborn son’s heartbeat making quiet thumping sounds through a nearby monitor, she reflected on the difficulty of her pregnancy and the excellent care she has received. Browning lives in Redmond and has visited the St. Charles Redmond Family Birthing Center frequently for check-ups and to have her pre-term labor monitored.
“I live five minutes from here,” Browning said. “It’s awesome here. I love this birthing center. It’s always quiet and mellow.”
The Redmond Family Birthing Center nurses said maintaining that personal feel in the unit is important, but they are also looking forward to serving more patients through the
arrival of a new obstetrician/gynecologist to the community.
Dr. Lanford Peck began practicing in Redmond in August as an employee of Cascade Healthcare Community (CHC). He’ll work alongside Dr. William Barstow and Dr. Craig Eberle at St. Charles Redmond delivering babies, conducting Cesarean sections and other gynecological surgeries. He’ll also run an outpatient OB/GYN practice in Redmond.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity,” Peck said. “I think I have a lot to offer the area
providing services to the women of Redmond.”
Peck was born in Jamaica and has lived in the United States since he graduated from high school. He is a graduate of Yale School of Medicine and also did his residency training
at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Peck said he’s looking forward to building his Redmond practice and explained he has a special interest in performing minimally invasive procedures and treating women with urinary incontinence. He’s excited to get to know the team he’ll be working with at the Redmond hospital, including the group of nurses who believe in the high-quality care they provide.
“We have really high patient satisfaction,” said Amy Hansen, care support manager for the Redmond Family Birthing Center. “And we have high patient return rates. We know their names and can remember their last delivery.” With the addition of Peck to the delivery team, Hansen said, she and her staff are looking forward to serving even more Redmond families close to home.
