Registered Nurse Sandy Giardini has joined the caregiving team at St. Charles Redmond as Chief Nursing Officer.
Giardini completed her studies for a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Arizona State University; Tempe, Ariz., and earned a Master of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix .
Her nursing and management experience is extensive, and includes eight years as director of an intensive care unit, four years as director of an emergency room, experience as a flight nurse and as an emergency room nurse. Giardini also served as Chief Nursing Officer for Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, a 103-bed facility. In addition, she was responsible for the performance of outpatient services and cancer services for the Banner Health System, one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the country.

Within the last year, Giardini served as a consultant for Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan., a regional referral center for northwest Kansas, at their DeBakey Heart Center . This facility includes heart catheterization, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and open heart surgery services. For six months Giardini also successfully guided the North Puget Sound Cancer Center at United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley, Wash., along the path towards accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.
Giardini has a few goals she would like to accomplish as a member of the St. Charles Redmond caregiving team. “While I am here, I’d like to help with the work this wonderful team has embarked upon to make our hospital the preferred community hospital of excellence, and to assure that St. Charles Redmond meets the needs of the people who live and work here,” she said. “Once I get my feet on the ground, I’d like to get out into the community and meet its leaders. I am finding a similar feeling here to that in Tempe –a strong, proud western heritage, with families who have worked the land for generations.”
In welcoming Giardini to the St Charles Redmond team, administrator Patrick Varga said, “Giardini brings great employee relations, dedication to building and maintaining relationships and an open-door policy in her daily work.”
