Programs We Support

AirLink:

AirLink provides emergency air ambulance service to Central and Eastern Oregon. AirLink averages more than three life saving missions each day, carrying residents to where they can receive necessary, timely medical care. Since its inception in 1985, AirLink has flown more than 12,500 missions throughout the state of Oregon.

Cancer Care:

Supporting care for people who cannot afford screenings or treatments, and survivorship programs to help cancer survivors with the emotional, spiritual and physical impact of cancer treatment in order to return to an active and healthy lifestyle. We are pleased to feature two Cancer Care initiatives, The Sara Fisher Project and Wendy’s Wish.

The Sara Fisher Project:

This is a comprehensive breast health education effort led by Cascade Healthcare Community, Bend area physicians, community members, and breast cancer survivors. Sara, cherished teacher, counselor and volunteer, died after a seven-year battle with breast cancer. In her honor, Sara’s Project continues to promote women’s health through research, education, outreach and support services.

Wendy’s Wish:

Wendy Huntley’s battle with cancer inspired the Wendy’s Wish program. Because colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death of men and women, it is "Wendy's Wish" to begin an active campaign to educate and screen for the early detection of colon cancer and ultimately to fund treatment for those in need of financial assistance.

Heart Care Services:

Improving the cardiac health of all Central Oregonians, enabling Cascade Healthcare Community to become a leader in diagnosis, early detection, cardiac disease treatment and rehabilitation. Heart Care Services also offers community education and outreach activities that promote heart health to people of all ages.

Mother Child Services:

Encompasses services of the Family Birthing Center, offering labor and delivery services, expanded NICU care, and pediatric programs, enabling children to get a healthy start in life. We are pleased to feature one of our initiatives in this area.

Project Stepping Stones:

This project provides comprehensive prenatal and newborn care to promote baby health and reduce the need for expensive health care and social programs later in life. This project includes HealthyStart Prenatal Service for uninsured, low-income women, hearing screenings for newborns, and follow-up visits for new mothers and their babies. HealthyStart is a partnership between Cascade Healthcare Community, Deschutes County, and local physicians.

Nursing/Caregiver Scholarships:

Providing scholarships for Cascade Healthcare Community nursing caregivers and scholarships for continuing education and training of non-nursing caregivers. The Mary Ann Thomas-Hoosier Nursing Scholarship provides funds to be awarded to nurses who are enrolled in advanced degree nursing programs (MS, MSN or PhD).
