CHC History

Cascade Healthcare Community, Inc. began as Cascade Health Services (CHS) in January of 2001 with the merger of St. Charles Medical Center in Bend (now St. Charles Bend) and Central Oregon District Hospital in Redmond (now St. Charles Redmond ).

At that time Mountain View District Hospital (MVD) in Madras, which was previously managed by St. Charles Medical Center, moved under CHS leadership. In December of 2001, CHS also began providing management services for Pioneer Memorial Hospital (PMH) in Prineville. The partnership and collaboration between the four hospitals in Central Oregon continued to flourish and in 2003, the CHS organization officially changed its name to Cascade Healthcare Community, Inc. to reflect the uniqueness of our community roots.
