St. Charles Bend remodeling Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit to improve patient privacy and care
Bend, Ore. – Starting on Tuesday, May 13 the Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit will be closed for remodeling with limited operations and services through Friday, May 23. The remodeling project will offer improved overall patient care, confidentiality and safety for both patients and caregivers.
“This remodel will focus on increasing safety in our PES Unit. It will also improve the overall aesthetics of the unit to provide a more healing environment for our patients and caregivers,” Kristin Powers, manager of PES, said. Powers added that improvements will be made to reduce sound traveling through the unit as well as adding a door and window to the nurse’s station.
During this closure, psychiatric patients who come to the St. Charles Bend Emergency Room for care will be assessed and will either be transferred to Sage View for inpatient care or transferred to another emergency psychiatric care unit in the state. All local, regional and statewide partners have been notified regarding this temporary closure.
