Mr. RHS campaign raises more than $32,000 for St. Charles Bend NICU

Sam Hartley crowned Mr. RHS 2008

Redmond, Ore. – The Mr. RHS campaign wrapped up on Saturday, April 12 with the annual Mr. RHS pageant.  Sam Hartley was crowned the overall winner, but the true winners were the families and babies who are and will be served by the St. Charles Bend NICU.  This year’s Mr. RHS campaign successfully raised more than $32,000 for the facility that cares for premature or sick infants.

For the third year running the Mr. RHS contestants have worked to raise funds for the St. Charles Bend NICU. The goal for the 14 senior boys, selected by students and teachers, was to raise $20,000. The group greatly surpassed their number.

Mara Kerr, family birthing center director, says this money will help with special projects and equipment.

“Some of the money raised by this campaign will go to purchase Neopuffs, which are crucial pieces of equipment used to aid breathing in new born babies,” said Kerr. “The equipment and technology needed to care for these babies is expensive and we are forever grateful for to these young men and women for all they have done.”

The recently opened St. Charles Bend NICU moved from a multi-patient bay setting to 12 new private rooms.
